Even without aggressive marketing, Ryobi has made a name for itself as a reliable reel manufacturer of high quality reels. It is widely known, that Ryobi reels, without carrying the most innovative, or futuristic technologies, they simply get the job done.
The Ryobi Slam is made from the newly developed NCRT building material. Here, only carbon fibers were used, which were incorporated into a polymer base. This resulting material is extremely strong and ultra-light. The NCRT fabric is about 20% lighter than aluminum, or ABS rolls. Furthermore, the Ryobi Slam has carbon drags and a Titanium spool shaft.
The comprehensive Ryobi Slam range runs from the sporty 2000 and 3000 sizes, that meet the needs of most Mediterranean in-shore anglers, up to the 6000 model, covering heavier in-shore styles such as Shore Jigging, or light vertical fishing techniques.
Internal features include a six ball bearing system, plus one infinite anti-reverse bearing. The main shaft is an impressive design, precision machined from titanium alloy.
Light tackle anglers will be pleased by what NCRT has achieved in the small sizes: 2000 is only 215 gr and 3000 is 247 gr. The drag capacities are equally impressive, with the 2000 being capable of 2.5kg, while the 3000 provides 5kg. The 6000 model crank it up to 7.5kg.
Other features in the Ryobi Slam spin reels include a CNC machined handle, with a thoughtfully shaped knob, plus a ported aluminium spool with a slick carbon inlay.
