Originally introduced in 2019, the InkVader has been developed through a trial & error process, by the Mustad development team, incorporating a number of existing innovations, to create the most lifelike Octopus imitation. The InkVader uses the revolutionary, highly supple, yet super tough TPE material to create a lure that thrives in a number of offshore applications. Its eight tentacles respond to every movement of the rods tip with absolute realism.

Besides its natural motion and compatibility with numerous fishing styles, it is equipped with soluble, scented, non-toxic ink tablets, that can be added to the head cavity. These tablets truly separate the lure from any other octopus bait in the market, as they have been built to help the InkVader mimic and move exactly like a live octopus, even when squirting black ink, infused with actual octopus scent, just like the real thing. This feature brilliantly mimics the behavior of an octopus fleeing from predators.

The InkVader is most effectively deployed with a vertical jigging technique, around reefs and other bottom structure, where octopus may hide, but is also effective when slow trolling as with Tai Rubber – as the slightest current, or movement of the boat is enough to bring the free flowing tentacles to life. The heads are equipped with two different line-tie points to cater for different approaches.

The InkVader is available in various sizes, starting from 60 gr all the way to 280 gr, in natural colors depending on your native octopus species. The jig is pre-rigged with Mustad Ultra Point Duratin Assist hooks. Each kit comes with 10 ink tablets .

To refill your Mustad InkVader Octopus Soft Baits simply open up the largest hole, at the top of the Octopus, with a plier and insert the ink tablet.

Important Notice: The Inkvaders are made of TPR material . It is a material that has the properties of both plastic and rubber. It is lightweight, which is important to give the Inkvader its characteristic movement in the water. It has excellent abrasion resistance making it durable, and it has good tear strenght so the tentacles dont come off at first tear. TPR is also reusable and recyclable, opposite to example normal PVC which is not.

But TRP can in some cases react to PVC material and a cause a chemical reaction, if for example stored together in a tackle box. This is only valid for some types of PVC, not all, and you need water, or moist as well as a certain temperature for this to happen. As a result, please refrain from putting the Inkvader in contact with PVC Silicone baits, or stored in the same tackle box.
