In the third iteration of the Battle® reel family, Penn outdid itself again, pushing the envelope on what you can expect out of a reel.
The Penn Battle III are now fitted with CNC Gear Technology, HT-100 Carbon Fiber Drag System and a full metal body. They are fluid, fast, and fierce.
The Battle® III comes in a variety of sizes. Sizes 1000 to 5000 are equipped with a Brass Pinion Gear and Aluminum Main Gear. Whether youre wading for flounder or trolling for tuna, outfit your rig with a reel that can handle the job. The Penn® Battle® III is now stronger, smoother, and more durable than ever before and has the guts and drag to handle serious abuse.
In the Mediterranean the Penn Battle will meet the requirements of fishermen tackling big prey of the deep such as Red Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack. Now you have the perfect companion for Jigging and Trolling rods that match a Spinning reel, although primarily it will find its way into the Shore Jigging market.
CNC Gear Technology
When it comes to crafting reels, precision is key. Thats why Penn uses state of the art software and CNC machinery to cut the Battle®s Drive and Pinion gears straight from the metal. Compared to gears fashioned from molds, the Battle® is not only stronger in design but also more accurate in alignment. With true alignment comes flawless performance and a reel that can endure the most formidable of elements.

Tough from the inside out, the Battle®s rigid framework keeps gears protected and in alignment.
HT-100 Carbon Fiber Drag System
Saltwater fishing requires drag that lets you work with the fish, not against it. Our high-tech carbon fiber drag washers are lubricated with Penn®s proprietary grease to ensure that your first catch, reels in as smooth as your last, no matter how heavy the load. Engineered with longevity in mind, you can pull in 100 miles of line off of the reel with no wear on the washers.
Superline Spool
No backing needed on this braid-ready reel. The Battle® comes stock with a tailored rubber gasket to keep superline from slipping.
